To Busy! Really?

I have a question for you. What have you done for self care this week?
For a lot of us, giving and taking care of others gives us great satisfaction. I believe this is very important and I totally agree that what you give comes back to you.
It makes me feel so good to be able to help others. And if I wouldn't have to work for a living that would probably all would be doing. I love helping out and volunteering. I am married and a mom of two. So there is never a shortage of opportunity to give for me. But.... well I do get to the point where I am exhausted and where giving turns into a burden.
When you are on a airplane they explain to you what to do in case the plain goes down. Always make sure you put the air mask on first on yourself. That is exactly how it is in life you have to take care of yourself first in order to be there for others.
But how do you make sure this does happen?
Over a year ago I found the perfect solution for me. I started waking up one our earlier than I had to. I was inspired by the book The Miracle Morning from Hal Elrod. That one hour in the morning is only dedicated to myself, and is the first part of my self care routine. During this time, I plan my day and I make sure that I plan 10-20 min each day for myself where I take care of myself.
This means I do something I enjoy doing. It can be a relaxing cup of coffee or making a healthy juice, or having a phone call with a good friend.
I also plan something special during the week which I do for myself. That can be a date with my husband, lunch with a friend, getting my hair done etc. Sometimes money is low, and I just can't spend any extra. Then, I spend time out in nature! It is free and probably the best thing we can do for self care. Really there is no better therapist out there than yourself spending time outside surrounded by trees or grass.
Start little if you really feel like you don't have the time. Schedule it in your calendar and realize that you are the most important person to take care in your life.
